What is your carb setup?

I'd like to know just from the holly owners with mechanical secondaries.

Carb size in CFM.
Jet size, primary and secondary.
Shooter size primary and secondary.
Power valve size.
Max practical rpm.
Also the exact C.I. of your engine.
Primary header tube size.
1/4 mile e.t. w/MPH

Thanks
Dave

Good start on some good data!
I know there are more of U guys out there.

I already see a pattern, but need at least 1 more setup. Preferably from someone that has been at the track.

Dave,what intake are you running?
Maybe some stagger jetting in the rear?

I've recently swapped out the metering plate on my 3310 for a metering block.
I'm running:

74 primary
6.5 powervalve
#35 squirter
82 secondary
no rear powervalve

Motor is very, very responsive (and I thought it was responsive before the jet change)

Holley 700CFM with proform main body.
Don't know the jet size just that I need bigger ones.

Chris,

I'm running the performer RPM oval port.

I'm thinking larger jets in the secondaries.
Most plug color is from cruising and they are a nice chocolate on the front 4 cylls and nearly bone white on the rear 4 cylls. Plus, Im getting some ripping, crackling noises in the headers right around 4500 rpm when I really get on it.

Qjet on a 427 +.030, 049 heads ported, Edlebrock intake and fairly nasty comp hyd with roller rockers.

One of Dave's small cp hei dist., car bust so hard it just frys the hides.

Plenty of carb and it idles!!!!!

Dave,I run the same intake too.
I shift at 5500-5700
All my plugs look fine.
EDIT-sorry..I just noticed you mentioned mechanical secondaries graemlins/clonk.gif
I also have a 750 double pumper that I've run before previously....72 primary/75 secondary
6.5 powervalve front/no rear
Squirters are 27/31
While this carb had a great seat of the pants feeling,it seemed lean on the top end,and MPH was slower than the vacuum carb (even with the metering plate before I switched it over to 82 jets)
I'll have to bump it up to the same jetting as my 3310 and try it again at the track.

mr 4sp

I have my shift light at 5600, so I figure I'm around 5700 or so when I actually make the shift.
thanks for the jet info. If you wouldn't mind, what heads and plugs are you running?

Walley, I have the same problem. Sometimes the car just won't move. ;)

I think a 750 is the right carb, I had one on a LS6 motor in a boat, ran super strong.

Holley 950HP 78's all corners. Runs towards rich side, but no stumbles, stalls, or bogs. Have yet to try blocking off secondary and changing squirters as it runs fine just the way it came from the factory! ;)

here is my still unassembled set-up:

468, 4blt; 291 heads; 10.2 CR SRP's; hyd roller cam (242/252@.050, .595/.612); 3933163 intake; Holley #4780 DP, 800cfm, #71 primary jets, #85 secondary jets, #65 power valve, #31 primary and secondary pump shooter, 30 cc primary pump, 50 cc secondary pump, .110' viton needle and seat, power valve blowout protection, electric choke. as i say this is still not assembled so i have no clue if this is a good combo or not. all i can say is it is a starting point. i have a fall back list 3310 vac secondary 750 but i doubt that would be enough carb for a rect port 468.
