I had the same situation happen to me last week John. What I did was trim a little off the original picture and rename it, then I was able to upload it again. Don't think simply "renaming it" worked.

We used to be able to go into our attachments and delete some if we wanted. Can't seem to do that anymore as I've tried. Perhaps you can contact the administrator to see how it can be done. Good luck.

When you go to USER CP > ATTACHMENTS and bring one up, do you not have a "delete button" Some people have reported that there is no delete button but that never did get fixed maybe.(I can't tell because I do have a delete button)

You know that you can use an existing attachment picture over and over, you don't have to upload it again.

Go to your attachment list, bring up the attachment, highlight and copy the URL address, go to your post and paste that address into the post, ADD [*img] in front of it and [*/img] behind it with NO spaces. (DELETE THE *'s) and the attachment picture will show.

No "delete" button for me Dean.

I'm only using about 25% of my allotment at this time, but would like to delete a bunch that are no longer relevant.

Thanks Don, evidently they didn't fix the problem when it was reported then.

I'm curious as to why some people evidently do have the delete button and some folks do not have one.:confused::confused:

If you want to reuse a picture previously posted in an older thread...just go to that thread, right click & copy the picture's link properties, and paste that link info into the new thread between brackets.

I just sent a PM to "The Don" for some input.

Me too and I have a delete button. Photobucket just seems easier.

The only problem with using Photobucket is later on down the road the "image no longer exist notice" will appear instead of a picture in many posts because it was offsite and onsite images will still be here.

Hey, maybe that's why they don't want them deleted.

No delete button for me also. The site seems to be moving along quite nicely and this would be a nice feature. Not to mention the space it would clear up.

Here you go guys. I think it stinks and should be brought back. We pay for the service and I don't think it's much to ask. Hey I would even pay a little more just to be able to load all my pics, but that's just me.
Hi Luis:

The block on deleting attachments is intentional, mainly for preserving the message database. I know this can be a pain, but its a kind of judgment call.

Have you tried using the Pictures & Albums section, under Community in the menus?

Can you help?

"preserving the message database" makes sense now that I think about it.

I got a message from a member that wanted to see the pictures in an old post which were no longer there. I had had them hosted on photobucket but they had since been deleted.

I guess, for future readers, maybe they really need a way to not allow off site pictures and force them to be hosted on our server - forever.
