Does anyone know who makes headers for a bbc in a 82 Cutlass? that are reasonable? My son is going to put my current motor in his Cutlass, but we are having a hard time finding a set of reasonably priced headers. Isnt the Cutlass the same frame as a Malibu? Todd? TIA

#2241 Hooker Super Comp. There about $350 a set from Jegs or Summit. They have 2" primary tubes with 3 1/2" collectors. They fit very well...tight in certain areas, but fit well. There really the only option to put a bbc in the g-body chassis...cheapest option too with Lemmons & Stahl being $900+.

Hedman makes a 1 7/8" header, but the one or two people I read that tried them claimed they fit horrible and they would never recommend anyone using them.

Yes, your Cutlass frame is the same as mine except for the length of the drivers side trans mount extension...82 and later had a bit longer trans mount extension for the crossmember to mount more straight accross...same frames other than that one small detail.

I know that there is a company that makes a header that has one tube that is seperate. at least the set I saw on an 80 with bbc had the tube running near the #1 spark plug was seperate section in that area due to clearance. Im not sure what brand they were.

Chris.

The Hooker 2214's have slip pipes on both sides...the drivers side has one tube that wraps around the steering column and it's a slip fit/removable pipe. The passenger side has two removable pipes to access the starter.

Robert,I'll be helping a friend put a 454 into his 80 Malibu over the winter. He plans on trying the $79 Summit headers I have in my 70 SS
part # is SUM-G9010
Years ago,I remember seeing a 79 Monte with a big block,and it had Blackjack AK5000 headers,which where from a 68-72 Chevelle.

They have gone up since I paid $340 for mine, but there not $500...$399 is Jegs to be exact.

I just don't believe in trying to cross breed headers into other chassis...all the ones I've seen done that way don't fit for shyt.
