I am thinking about converting my chevelle to efi and want to know what the pros and cons would be between the holley avenger tbi vs the mpfi

I have a 496 in the chevelle approx 600 to 625 hp with a airgap intake

I converted my camaro sbc using the fast ez efi and like it very much but want to try the holley on the chevelle.

I will probably use a efi tank/pump from ricks in the chevelle

thanks
Bill

600HP is at/over the limit of the injectors on the TBI. Also, a 600HP is a reasonably serious engine which is when I recommend going to MPFI.

Doug,

I have Brodix RR Ovals will I have any problems with the holley intake ports matching? I think i read something about this.

Go all the way Bill - right to the Multiport, you wont regret it. Hood clearance may be an issue though, still have some details that I need to work out myself. Overall a phenomenal system.

You will need to port out a good bit of material for a true port match, and at 600HP you'll want to do that. We are re-doing the tooling, but it takes a good bit of time.

Doug thanks for the response, I saw in another post you mention about re-tooling for the intake but that was 6 months ago? how long do you think it will really take?

Vince, I have been following your threads on your install thats why I am leaning in this direction. any idea what it may cost me to have this intake ported if I decide to go this route? will I have a problem with clearance on the factory cowl induction hood?

Also, Im having another issue with smoking and lots of oil consumption that I have to figure out what the problem is before this conversion

sounds like the seals in the heads are going. my buddies camaro had the same issue we put new pc seals in it and the smoking issue is gone.

Thanks, Actually all the valve guides were shot on the heads and the spring heights and pressures were off from the spec sheet, new brodix heads with only 1500 miles!

Doug,

Are you going to do anything about the Avenger's single plane intake manifold height?

Do you have a MPFI manifold that is lower?

If not, then it won't hurt anything to mill off 1/2" off of mine will it?
