Hey all,

I installed my new engine yesterday and was tightening everything down when I noticed it looked tilted toward the rear? The front of the engine is higher than the rear...is this normal ???Will this cause any problems ?
I placed a level on the intake and it's not level. It's about a 1/4" off.

Yes, the motor leans back a bit. If everyting is stock, it should be ok. Just double check fan clearance around the shroud and hoses before firing it up. And make sure your distributor isn't too close to the firewall.

I now remember what could have caused this.My new pan (stock) was hitting the crossmember because of the thicker one piece gasket. We shimmed the motor mounts 1/4" so the pan would clear.Do you think this might be what's tilting the engine back?Do you think I need to shim the trans mount too or will I be ok ?Going to run HEI and an electric fan.

What you could do is go out and buy a $10 Sear protractor and measure the angle of the engine tranny. Should be about a 3 degree drop. I lucked out and had the car on a lift which zero'd the protractor, but if not, grab a line off the frame and make an adjustment for the other measurement.

Took mine right off the tranny as it mates to the bellhousing. Bet you might need to use an extra shim under the tranny mount. The Energy Suspension mount comes with one.

mine leaned back alittle more than you would have thought...i run a 1250 dominator carb.so i put jet extensions on the two rear jets ...just to make sure that rage'n rat did not run lean at 7000 rpm blasting out of the hole  http://www.clubhotrod.com/photopost/data/500/989carb-med.jpg
