I think the 12-246-3 would be a better match with your compression ratio.

But if you want more, then the 12-250-3 wouldn't be so bad, and the gearing will help it out of the hole.

I think that the 12-254-3 is out of the question and will be a dog off the line.

I had the 12-223-2 (XE268) cam in my 350 + .060" and the tires spun pretty easily but it lacked top end. I think I had a 9.5:1 compression ratio too. I used a 2400 stall and it was fine, I think a 2800 stall would be good for the XE274 and a 3000+ stall would be good for the XE284.

I have an XS268 solid cam from Comp.-230/236@.050 with .488/.501 Lift-its the solid version of the more popular xe268. Gets decent mileage even with a double pumper(14-15mpg split 50/50 over city/highway-just highway it gets 18-19mpg with overdrive). Idles at 750, pulls 14-15" of vacuum, has a good amount of power downlow(almost identical to the 203/212@.050 hydraulic I pulled out of it), and in a 3,800lb or so 81' Camaro with 355 and Home ported World S/R Heads with small valves (that flow nearly the same as the old double humps) and 9.5 CR with 3.42s in the rear she has gone best of 13.5@102 with 2.0 60ft.

I really think this would be a good cam for your car
