I know that the '67-'69 Camaro uses different engine mounts on the frame for a big block and a small block, but are the Chevelles this way too?

My BEST area of Chevelle experience is the 68-72 models. On those models, there are two (2) different frame brackets (for V-8 engines). There is the 307 and then the 350-454 brackets. The 307 brackets are a little taller and a little wider than the 350-454 brackets. Thus, if you use the 350-454 rubber engine mount and try to fit it onto a 307 frame bracket, IT WON'T GO! The 307 engines used the plain rubber engine mount, whereas the 350-454 engines used the interlock style rubber mount. If a 68-72 frame has the 307 brackets and you use 350-454 rubber mounts and spread it and force it down over the 307 frame bracket, the engine sits up to high and the fan may hit the shroud. Now that's for 68-72 Chevelles.
I know there are differences for 64-67 frame brackets, but someone who is knowledgeable will have to take it from here.

I have one of each car and just put a BB in place of a 307 in the 71. I changed the frame mounts to be correct for the 71, it now has the narrow frame bracket with the tall narrow mount. The 67 uses the short wide mount. The motor ends up sitting in the same place, the difference is in the frame adapter.

I have a '68 SS and was wondering if the mounts were different. I wonder why the 307 got a different mount from the 350? Anyway, the reason the Camaro got a different mount for the big block was to move the engine away from the steering box for exhaust clearance. I just wondered if the Chevelle was the same way. I know the Chevelle is a front steer car and the early Camaro was rear steer, so this was probably not an issue on the Chevelle.

True, in a Camaro, for a BB to fit, it must be moved to the right, but not so in a Chevelle.
