I recently posted in performance,(maybe wrong forum?) about putting a 350 Ram jet in my 65 chevelle. Since then I have been looking into using a low milage LS1 and auto trans. I want an injected motor and was looking for advice on the two motors. From reading, it appears that the Ram Jet is a bolt in where as the LSI is not. I am aware of the fuel issues and also the wiring does not bother me to much. I have put a FI mustang 5.0 in a 74 Bronco with few problems. I am concerned with structural problems with the LS1 (motor mounts, belt driven accessories clearing, etc.). Anyone done either in a 64/65? I saw where someone put an LS1 in a 66, are the frames, engine compartments, etc. the same as a 65? How comparable are the motors power wise? Thanks for reading this rather lengthy post.

Perhaps you should lookk into getting an LT1. Same motor mounts i believe as traditional SBC's and you can get an LT4 conversion kit from GM, here. (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=NAL%2DGMP3287%2D1) Cant argue with the numbers:)Check ebay or wrecking yards, or police auctions.

Thanks Nomad. I'll broaden my horizons. I'm still interested if the 64/65 and 66/67 engine compartments are the same.

I am new here but have lurked for awhile... here is the RamJet we just got done puting in my parents Malibu. Not 1 complaint about install or performance. If you are going to go stealth and hide all the wiring like I did... get the Ron francis kit. I had to cut and splice 30 plus wires for the injectors and such to hide them! Good luck!!!
