Chris, I was searching the archives and found that you were going to install a one piece oil pan gasket. The Fel Pro 1884R. I was just wondering how it worked out. I finally drove my car the 38 miles to the track Wed. night and my oil leak came back. I couldnt make a pass. I thought I had it fixed, but that is not the case. I am gonna pull the engine and do it right. Just wondering how the gasket worked for you. Did you install it dry? The builder who did my motor used clear silicon on the entire gasket and I have oil seeping along the rails and especially the front passenger corner. Thanks for your input. I am dying to get this thing to the track!

Chris,I installed it with a slight bit of 3M black weather strip adhesive in between the bolt holes(just to keep it place)..and I used studs on the 4 corners..I did this in the car, with the motor lifted up.So far,so good, probably about 600-700 miles so far,no problems.

Make sure you install it DRY. The instructions are clear on that. I've installed rubber gaskets in the past, and the only ones that didn't leak, were the ones installed dry..... smile.gif

I run a 1 piece gasket also, no oil leaks from it so far and it's reusable graemlins/thumbsup.gif
I have found that silicone and gaskets usually spell leaks, I never use silicone and gaskets together except in the corners.
