I need to install new dowels in my block to locate the heads. I believe they are 5/16" x 1/2". Do I need to lubricate them or do I pound them in dry? Can I just use a hammer or do I need a punch? TIA, Kevin

If the block was decked, the holes need to have a small chamfer put on them, put the dowls in dry with a hard rubber hammer or a brass hammer. No metal hammers, it will distort the dowl.

km,
They actually measure a bit smaller than 5/16 ... .509" to be exact. They are 1/2" long. The Pioneer part number is PG225. Any machine shop should have them.
