Bought 3 502/502 kits 12371171 ( seperate occasions) all from a GM Dealership on the west coast $6550 each. The same kits are available thru GM Parts Depot for $6985.

"GM parts depot" & "GM parts direct" are both GM dealers, not GM..... that is not to say they are bad guys though.
personally, I would buy local..... if you run into a problem, they're more willing to help if you spent some money there instead of getting it mail order & then coming to them for help.... i've even heard of dealers refusing to handle warranty claims because the motor wasn't purchased there.... not a biggie because the GM warranty (12 months / 12,000 miles - parts & labor - see below though) is valid at any GM dealer...... JUST AN FYI..... for the chevelle, use GM's 4 qt pan kit or milodons 7 qt pan (no experience w/ 7 qt pan, but others here have said it works well)
BTW, the 12371171 is a "deluxe kit" (comes w/ intake, carb, dist etc....the partial is assembled, the heads are assembled, but you have to put the heads on the partial, as well as everything else such as covers, pan, front cover...... AND ONLY the PARTIAL / SHORT BLOCK is covered under the 12/12 warranty)

Search the web for the cheapest price then tell call Summit and tell 'em to match it.

the 502's are "GEN VI" - 1 pc rear main seal motor, the "MK IV" 2 pc rear main seal motor pans won't work...... i think we dyno'd these w/ 1 5/8" tubes.... i will look tomorrow when i get to work.
