It automatically changes the links to some "autoguide" site, so the links won't take you to TireRack... I have to wonder if that's not on purpose, since Discount Tire is now a sponsor.

I noticed that :(

I've been noticing lately that many times you don't get taken to where you want to go on the net, you get taken to where Google or "what ever" wants you to go.
I'm thinking that it is going to get much worse because everything is about money now.
Guess Tire Rack hasn't paid the "dues"

www.Tire Rack.com (http://www.tirerack.com/index_w.jsp) <--mouse over this

Seems like dirty pool doesn't it.

Tire Rack is simply the best site to find information on tires... sure sucks not being able to share that information with others here.

That's dirty, plain and simple. Tried to sneak it in my signature, did the same thing.

This site used to be about information that helped people out - and while it still is for the most part, stuff like this just leaves a bad taste.

I'll be damned...

Anyone else notice the abundant amount of timeout errors on this site lately too?

Maybe without the actual landing page, just the domain? Let's see...

http://tirerack.com (http://tires.autoguide.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftirerack.com)

Nope...something in the site's code is making the switch and directing it to an eBay ad page. That's sad. :(

Maybe just using the ip address? http://204.71.140.50 - Ah, ha...that seems to work. :hurray:

Never knew forums could be "bought".

Heck, just auction all the forums to the highest bidder.

Jeg's or Summit would bid a ton for the Performance forum!!

Non-competitiveness and/or info-restriction is *never* a good thing.

Let's try this:

TireRack (http://204.71.140.50)

Ha! it works! Here's the code:

"url=http://204.71.140.50]TireRack[/url" but replace the quotes with a [ at the beginning and a ] at the end.

Dale already did that.

Just wait, it's going to get much worse when we won't have any choices of our own left at any web site. I heard that the internet was going to be part of the operating system in the future.

Yeah - they already track everything you do. If you don't log off a site, but just mosey on to the next place you want to go, the analytics continue. Really, it's a good way to get advertising directed more accurately at you - but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Ghostery shows 7 different trackers on this TC web page. It blocks them all. Use Firefox.

Even with firefox, those trackers are there and the redirects are there. Need to use scriptblocker as an add-on to stop them. (which is kind of a PITA, but not too bad.)

NoScript doesn't kill the redirect either.
