: engine mounting

I am installing a big block in a 70 Chevelle and the tranny doesnt'line up with the cross member support ( off to the left by about a inch and a half). The engine and trans assembly is off center to the drivers side. Are left and right frame mounts the same? I am using high energy mounts, has anyone had any problem with those?
Thanks
Mark

That is confusing, both motor mounts should be the same, no right and left on those. Do both mounts look the same? I know you can't put them on upside down so we can eliminate that as a problem. Did this car have a 307 in it before?

are the headers on the engine yet. could they be hitting the frame rails and holding it over, that was the problem I ran into when the engine and headers were in it was kicked off to the left about the same as yours I had to do some frame alts to get it to sit straight.

Mark,
I know that I'm in the wrong forum to make this statement, but here goes. I know that there is a difference between B/B and S/B frame mounts in a first Gen Camaro. The same is true about the transmission crossmember. Does this apply to a Chevelle?
Sounds like if you are over to one side by an inch, it could be the frame mounts. The B/B driver side frame mount is taller on a Camaro, moving the motor to the passenger side. The holes for bolting the transmission to the crossmember reflect the difference.
