I have a 66 chevelle with a 505 chevy. My problem is that I cant keep it cool. It has a Griffen rad, 180 thermostat, fan shroud clutch fan. The temp will run about 200. Its mainly a strip car so I dont have alot of time for it to recover between rounds, it wouldn't be so bad if It ran around 180. Any suggestions will help. thanks mike

200 is fine, but your right to be worried when summer comes around. My 350 runs at 190 all the time, I have a 180 thermastat and a stock 3 core radiator. I would suggest getting a 160 thermastat. Perhaps even a 140 or 150 if your really worried. Also, what kinda fan do you have drawing your air? If you just have a Clutch fan or regular engine driven fan then I suggest upgrading to electric fans. I have a single 12" electric fan cooling my 350 and its worked fine in the summer (except in traffic.) There are dual fan kits you can get that will push or pull upwards of 4800cfm per fan. Now its been a while since i have looked at fans but I know there are some good ones in Summit. PAW has some excelant fans as well.

Best of luck.
