When cutting springs, do I need to cut a certain amount? I mean, do you have to cut in whole coils or half coils increments? From other posts it seems that one coil will lower the car about 2" or so. I'm only looking for about 1" in front and back. New springs aren't an option, since these are already lowering springs on the car.

I'm not sure about this but I thnk one coil increments is required to seat the springs in the pockets correctly.

Pat has a good point...maybe I'm lucky because I removed approximately 1.25 coils (just guessed on the amount) from my 70' and the springs do not make any noise and have worked fine for 2+ years now.

I just finished cutting my springs and by the looks of it I would say it would be ok to just cut 1/2 of a coil. You have to make sure that the bottom of the spring is seated correctly in the A arm.
