I replaced my bolt rear with a 12 bolt, which was pretty straight foward. The old shaft is the correct length,so that was a good thing. It looks like the rear joint (pinion side) is a hair too short. I have approx 1/16 of an inch side to side play. Not in the caps. Is there a different joint for a 12 bolt vrs a 10 bolt ? Thanks for any info

You may need to look at U-joints with unequal lengths across the bearings. That is, one part of the joint will fit your shaft and the other (longer) part will match the pinion flange.

The joint that JWagner is referring to is called a conversion joint and is available through Spicer. The part # is 5-3022X.
