I'd rather reuse my original rear then spend the huge amount of money required 4 a nine-inch, which I think is just more "heavy-duty" than a 12-bolt. But, I still don't like the idea of 2 little clips holding basically the whole rear end together. Cadillac rears didn't use c-clips & the axle stays in with a friction-fit bearing(the same principle used in c-clip eliminators). I also heard eliminators leak without the proper use of silicon. Question: Is a $200 kit worth it on a cruising car that occasionally sees the strip?

If your not using slicks then I wouldn't worry about it.

I havent done this and kinda hope I never have to under duress, but the Moser c clip replacement axles ( @ about $220) are one heckuva upgrade. Ken Jett recently psoted some pics of the difference in shaft dia. Well worth the price IMO.

To put the C clip eliminators on you have to cut off part of the housing end. Once this is done there is no going back. Be sure you want to do this before you start. The eliminators are designed for drag racing and were not designed for the side loads of street driving. Moser axles would be a very good upgrade.

Big gear head is right. I was at an NHRA event and Moser had a tent set up. I told them I was thinking about c-clip eliminators for the street and he advised me it would be a bad move for a street car. They're not designed to take the everyday stress of street driving.

I think it was cool that he was honest enough to tell you that.
Too many companies are too willing to take your money with no care or desire to make sure you get what you need.
