I bought the $50 universal chrome oil pan and when I went to drop the engine in the car, it came within a few thousandths of rubbing on the cross member. I compared the new pan to my old, beat-up pan and found about a 3/4" difference. Should I go out and try to find a better fitting and more expensive pan or try taller motor mounts? I have the 1-3/4" mounts now, will I have any problems with the 2-1/2" mounts? I hear these old Chevelles suffer from frame twisting and don't know if that will cause a problem with the taller mounts.
