Well for those who werent with me on my last thread which went a little nuts for my cam install and minor engine rebuild. It's basically complete I re-alligned my timing marks and re-torqed manifold bolts, and etc etc. :D

A new issue though! My oil, it's trick to tell because it is synthetic but it looks milky and im getting coolant leaking ALL OVER the place .. looks like out of the waterpump, passenger side. How can someone mess up an easy waterpump seal!? Well I did it somehow. So I let it run and slowly drip for about 10 minutes, then it begins to run really hot and loosing fluid slowly. I shut it off and its got steam coming out, looks like out of the passenger side head. The only thing I can think of is I dropped the new head gasket (s) on the wrong way... where it says FRONT maybe I dropped it in incorrectly.

I think I'll buy performance head gaskets since I have to pull it all, If I have to re-do something I'd like somekind of upgrade. Eh this sucks, atleast my timing is on though graemlins/beers.gif

Let me know if it sounds like it could be something else. If not, I'll be out pulling it appart once again, hopefully the last time.

Well I started re-pulling the manifold and all those goods to get into my head gaskets (again) my valve covers just got pulled off and the bottoms/inside of them are REALLY milky, a little bit thick around some areas. From what ive read and know... I put on my head gaskets wrong. Bad HEAD GASKETS. It's like this on both sides.

Phil ; If it wasn't for bad luck, you would have no luck at all. If you are getting water into your oil then DON'T run it. You will give yourself far bigger problems. Where was the smoke coming out of? I don't know too much about small blocks but big blocks can and will leak by the head bolts. Is the water coming out by the water pump or is steam coming out of the valve cover? Overheating could be timing. You haven't had the heads off since the rebuild have you?
I can't believe you can even sit and type this out. I would be flipping out.
Crack the drain plug and see if you get oil or water coming out. Look in your radiator and see if the coolant looks milky at all. GOOD LUCK!

Phil,

I can't beleive you need to tear into that thing again, I feel for you. :(

If this was me I'd be telling my wife to hide all of my guns and amo. :D

Good luck on the head gaskets.

Yeah you know. I dont know what it is but im not entirely pissed off, lesser things with my rebuild killed me. Now im calm, ha. graemlins/clonk.gif

Yeah the timing marks were good before, and now they are dead on I re-did em'. The steam though, it looked like it was coming in between the top left side of the waterpump, valve cover or head, very hard to tell, I had to shut it down obviously. I've got this thing inside out, if it wasnt for the woman coming over tonight I'd have my head gaskets checked right now graemlins/beers.gif Lets just hope I put the gasket on the wrong way, which I dont think I did, but the oil IS milky, and Ive ruled out most other possibles. graemlins/angry.gif

Did you thoroughly clean the threads of your head bolts and put permatex or another type of thread sealant on the threads when you first screwed this thing back together? Cleaning head bolts is a PITA but needs to be done......or else!
