I put my steering linkage back together (Column Shift) The bracket that comes out of the firewall and hooks up to the linkage arm, it slides through a hole and I think a washer or something goes in there so it isnt wobbley, I dont remember what went there... if anyone has a picture of the area it would be very very helpful...

Yep, there's supposed to be a grommet there. I'll see if I can get out and take a pic if nobody else posts one. Ground up has them #APJ-1314 (Accelerator Rod Grommit Kit)

I do not have a picture but in my 68 I went to the chevy house and bought two new ones. They are a rubber gromet with a nylon insert.
