i have a 70 chevelle 454 shortnose blower im having a nightmare trying to figure out the shortnose alt and waterpump pulley and bracket set up. i have my pulleys and lower alternater bracket. the alternater wont reach the top bracket it hits on the valve covers its about 2 inches away from bolting in the bracket.the bracket is a chrome aftermarket, for shortnose waterpump. i also have dart pro 1 heads will the heads affect the reach or is the aftermarket bracket not made to stock specs, it looks the same as 1 i seen in a picture in the year 1 catalog.

go to summit and use azoops alt bracket had same problom it worked great

Just in case you are not aware, the water pump, pulleys and all brackets changed in 69.
The 68-earlier cars (with either BB or SB) used the short pump and the alternator was on the left side. In 69, EVERYTHING changed. Pumps were the long version, alt moved over to the right side and all brackets were different.

I used the same chrome bracket and a re-pop stock type casting Alt. mount that I clearanced so it would clear my header flange.

I had to use washers and shim it out at the intake......

It's not perfect, but it will work...
