The L79 was a basic small journal 327 was built with lots of tough high performance stuff (11:1 compression, fuelie heads, aluminum dual plane intake, Holley 585 cfm) AND one of the best all-round small-block cams going (hydrallic to boot!). They wail, but aren't too cantankerous. A damn fine package it was. They came in various 'vettes, Chevelles and Chevy IIs from '65 - '68. It was replaced with the L46 (350/350) in Corvettes for '69 - '70.
