First of all, is your 496 a 4bolt block? If so, remove the caps, take the caps and the 2bolt block to a GOOD machinist and have him convert the 2bolt block to use your 4bolt caps. TOO EASY-----------------------but it will cost you a little.

Or just have the 2 bolt block converted to a 4 bolt with splayed main caps.

If he converts his 2 bolt block to spayed 4bolt, then he is out the price of splayed caps PLUS paying to have them fitted. But if the 4bolt block is no longer useable, it can be converted to an anchor for free and the caps can be fitted to a 2bolt block without any additional cost for caps except for having them fitted.
