: BBC EFI manifold swap worthwhile?

I'm currently running a Holley C950 system on my 509 10.2 tall deck. Manifold is a Holley 9901-202 which is a Dominator flange 9.8 standard deck with spacers and a 2000 cfm TB. Manifold is not ported. I have a chance to pick up a Edelbrock 29165 that's been ported by WIlson manifolds. This manifold also accepts my 2000 cfm TB and is nearly an inch lower than the Holley. I'm running a 2" drop base air cleaner with a K&N filter and filter top but still only have just over 1/2" clearance with my cowl induction hood, which is bolted to a 2nd gen Camaro. The Edelbrock is nearly an inch lower in height so that should improve airflow , along with the fully ported runners and plenum. The car is street driven but has not been to the track yet.
My question: obviously, I'm not going to see much improvement street driving, but would it make much difference if I take it to the track?
Other specs:
Dart Big M
UDHarold SR 261/266 @ 05, 730/730 net lift, Jesel Sportsman rockers
AFR 315 CNC heads with 121 cc chambers 10.13 cr with SRP pistons
Stock '79 Z28 with T56 and 3:73 posi

Thanks!

I doubt you'd pick anything up on that intake. I've compared it a few times on 900HP engines and it always makes about the same as any other, even "ported".

The intake itself may not lose or gain anything but the airflow restriction created by the too short air filter is causing a loss, I can almost gaurantee based on my Chevelle and experimenting with air cleaner configs at the track.

Thanks Doug, always appreciate your opinion! I think I'll pass on the manifold, but as Jakeshoe noted, the air cleaner being so close to the cowl could be a restriction. Would it be worthwhile to have the manifold TB pad cut down a half inch or so, or would it take more than that? I would think turbulence wouldn't be as much an issue as a carbed setup.

I'd run it without the air cleaner once at the track and compare. I agree with Jake that isn't ideal. If it picks up enough without the air cleaner, shave a 1/2" off and change the air cleaner.

I'll run it without the air cleaner once it's on the road, sorted out, and tuned properly. Still doing interior work and wiring. I'm already using a 2" drop Dominator air cleaner from Universalspinners, so if I can't get much more than 1/2"from dropping the TB mounting pad, I might have to look at dropping the engine / trans mounts 1/2", but that's about all I can do, don't want to run anything taller than the 2 1/2"cowl induction hood from Goodmark.
Thanks again,

John
