If anybody out there is using Sportsman II heads in a Chevelle can you tell what kind of headers you have had good luck with? I have a 71 El Camino.

I have sportsman II heads with hooker supercomp 1 5/8 headers. I bought and installed these about 10 years ago. The exhaust ports on the heads dont exactly match the headers and it leaks a little. to be honest I dont think the leak is caused by the port shape but rather from the fact that my header flange is not smooth. I should have have ground off the irregular weld seems. This is on a 71 small block.

Thanks Clark, there must be more people out that have used these heads. Hopefully someone can give me more advice. I was told that 1 5/8 primary tubes were not adequete (spelling?) but other people have said this is O.K.
