I'm with you, I hate the appearance of that, too! Once or twice when the wife was with me, she has wanted the windows up to reduce the amount of air blowing on her when it's cool outside and I refuse to put the top up :p It does reduce the amount of air turbulence in the interior, but looks stupid

It cuts down on the wind.I almost never drive with the top down.Don't like the sun beating down on my head and anything not bolted down gets sucked out.

Yeah looks silly. We used to do it back when we took my '66 Beaumont rag skiing. The roof would go down, the ski's would be sticking up out of the back seat, and the heater on full blast. That's the only time I could justify it LOL.
On another note, driving with the roof up on a hot sunny day, the side window down, and the rear window unzipped...A wind tunnel in the shade. Priceless...

I used to do the same thing. On a cold autumn night, windows up heater blasting and top down. I used to also think it was cool to imitate Nick Nolte's cadillac in 48 Hours. He always had the one quarter window up. I'm looking forward to doing the same thing with heated seats in the future.

Sometimes it cools off when you are out and you don't feel like putting the top up. Sometimes you don't feel like dealing with the wind while you're driving but don't want to put the top up. Sometimes you have manual windows and don't care enough to reach to the sides and back. Sometimes you don't care what it looks like and just want the windows up. Once my top is down it's pretty much down for the spring, summer and fall unless it rains. Is there a reason it matters?

Windows up top down a/c blasting make for a nice ride in hot weather.the windows stop the a/c from exiting before it cools you off. but i must admit it does look silly
