I just changed from a stock intake to an edelbrock eps intake and I have a few questions. First of all there is a "thing" that was on the old manifold that is now on the new one. It is a pipe that screws into the the manifold and has a place on it for a small vacuum hose. I'm not sure what that is for and where the hose should come from that goes to it. also ... there is a hole left on the manifold that has nothing to go to it. when i run the car the hole has hot exhaust pour out of it. any advice or help is appreciated. thanx. 72 malibu

Well, first question the small think with a vacuum port on it might be something like a hook up for power brakes if the carb didn't have the right ports. Second question. No exhaust gasses ever pass through the intake. I am not quite sure what you are seeing there without seeing it in person. The only two holes on the front left of that manifold are and inlet from the water pump directly and an outlet to the heater hose if i am right. The one on the right side is where the temp sender is supposed to go. I am sure you can mix and match these somewhat, but on my performer rpm that is the way they are setup.

you are probably right. it just hit me that the gases coming out can't be seen until the car warms up. it's steam! but should it be there?
