: Power to manual brakes

I'd like to run manual brakes so I can shed a few lbs and not have to worry about how big of a cam I have. I've seen the vacum pumps that are available to guys running low vac. but I don't feel the need to blow away $250.

I was wondering if I could just swap a power brake master cyl and power booster with a manual master cyl. Will this work or is there a lot more involed?

Also, what are some common junkyard beasts that I can yank the manual brakes out of.

Thanks ahead of time for any advise.

Many GM cars in the early 80's came with electric vacuum pumps. Look of GM "J" cars (Cavalier, etc) Pump is mounted in the left front corner of motor compartment.

Hey Carlo, I'd like to run power brakes. If you want, we could swap parts. What year do you have? I have a 68. Are you planning on selling them? Please E-mail me if you want (since we both live in IL) I could run out and swap with ya! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

A vacuum reserve canister will not run as much $$ (70 or so)and still allow a moderately agressive cam. Still won't make the car lighter though.

all you need is a manual master cylinder for disc brakes off of an 68 chevelle will work.
