How much more oil is needed when this longer filter is used? Thanks

Same 5 quarts, believe it or not. Been using the longer version for the last 33 1/2 years.

The 'Year One' catalog says that the PF35/1218 filter adds another 1/2 quart of oil to the engine.

I also found that the dipstick showed a little low with the longer filter installed, I poured an additional quart in the engine.

I STILL stand by my 5 quart amount. Been running for 627,000 miles and 34 years with NO problem AND it shows full on the dipstick when the oil is changed. I have ALWAYS filled the filter first before installing it. This way there is instant oil pressure.

I also always fill them up before I screw them on, unless I have headers that won't allow it. I can't believe that the 1218 displaces more than 4-6 ounces more.

I fill the filter first too and I put that additional oil in anyway, been doing it that way for 39 years. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Just thought I'd give my findings on this. The PF1218 took an additional 8 ounces.
