Hi guys,
Are you aware of anyone that has used (or at least measured up) a rectangular port multi-point Holley SD EFI manifold with oval port heads?

The reason I ask is that I saw the following photo that seems to show the SD OP Holley EFI BBC manifold as having quite small runners. Would the SD RP manifold shape fit within the oval port gasket shape?

Thank you,

Its a huge problem. If you DONT port that oval, I would certainly use a rect port intake on ovals - done here all the time. Or, you can get a Vic Jr EFI oval intake, but its a littlw bit more work.

Hi Vince - I just finished reading your entire EFI install thread and both drag strip threads! Interesting reading.

I like the idea of fitting the Holley Rect Port manifold. I'd really prefer not to have to spend ages (or dollars) grinding out the small oval port runners if the rectangle port intake will work. The rectangle port intake also has the 4500 flange / 2000cfm option which might give me a bit of airflow up my sleeve for later.

I think I'm kidding myself thinking I'll fit it under a regular scoop in my Cobra fake, but I'll just have to deal with that... Yeah, yeah - it's a BBC in a Cobra, I know it's supposed to have a Ford in it... ;) For what it's worth, I've always owned Fords, but I bought my pro street/touring Chevelle and the BBC Cobra in the last year. I've seen the light!

I'm having the oval port casting cores opened up right now. It just takes a little time to modify the tooling.

The issue with using the rect is the injectors will spray onto the face of the oval heads which isn't really desirable.

Craig, you should just have that intake modified for the injectors...you will never get the Holley intakes under there.

Doug - is there a reason these intakes are so high? Still having a "slight" issue with hood clearance. Looks like I'm gonna have to run a ~2.75" filter rather than the 3". I found some new areas that the air cleaner is now rubbing the hood. I think that carb/TB pad could be lowered easily 1/2 w/o causing too much issue. I may need to do that at some point, when I take the intake back off.

I choose the edelbrock intake which is a little lower after hearing the ports were very small ,but then needed to add a 1/2 spacer to get the throttle body linkage to work properly. I then got poor advice and port matched my intake to the gaskets. Now they are larger then my head ports.:(

Hi Doug, it's been a long time since we spoke!

Anyways, I went through this back in 2001 with you/Holley, how come it's taking so long?

BTW, I do have one with fuel rails and is already ported if anyone is interested.....

Mine didn't seem as bad as the OP:
