ya think my edelbrock fuel pump (mechanical) will pump enough to support 600-650hp??? friend of mine doesn't think it will, now im questioning it.... i have an10 from the cell to the pump then an 10 to a dist block that splits to 2 an8 lines to the carb... so it's no restricted at all.

Sure, it should support that power level just fine. My 496 made 640hp/602tq on an engine dyno with a Carter M4889 strip pump - rated 120gph. I've since updraded to the Carter M61045, rated to 172 gph because in the car it seemed to be falling off in third gear with the 120gph strip pump.
