I have my 406 small block out for some painting I did on the frame. I decided to paint the motor and clean up all parts. My rpm performer looks like crap and I was wonder what to clean it with. I have it off the engine so it can be soaked it needed. I was considering soaking it in peroxide. I was told that cleans aluminum up real well. I am putting on some AFR 195's and want to bring everything up to par so i can hit the remaining summer car shows.

Try some paint stripper from the auto parts.
Stuff I got was from NAPA and was water soluable.
Spray it on, wait for a while and then take a brush to it. rinse it off.
If it is oxided aluminum, this wont make a difference much. If it is gas stained, it cleans pretty well. I also found some high temp aluminum paint in a rattle can. Sprayed the engine of my Gold wing. Looks just like the factory color originally to give you an idea. Got it at Murrays Auto Parts. If your interested, I will get the exact name of the stuff. Just email me.

If you have access to a blast cabinet with glass beads as media that can do a great job.

Spray the intake with mag wheel cleaner. Eagle One makes a good one that will give you excellent results. I used the etching spray. Worked great! rb6667

We have all kinds of thinners and chemicals at work and for some reason carburetor cleaner in particular works the best.
