What symptoms will an engine display if the timing chain has skipped a tooth?

Here's a test.
If your ignition was set to your spec prior to your suspicion of a jumped chain ,re check the timing and see if it's off.

Wont idle well, timing makes little difference, runs like a pig and has no power

:mad:check your rotor tip, they can break off at the rivet, will cause the spark to jump around between distributor cap terminals.............:yes:

Is it possible to jump a tooth ? , never have heard of that,possible with heavy wear on chain and gears?

It's possible to jump a tooth. I've had it happen a few times in my 50 years of messin' with cars. The symptoms are from running sluggisn to backfiring to having a valve hit the piston. None of them fun.
