What carb would you recommend for a 69ss 396? I have the original carb and the car came with a Holley850 double pumper which was installed improperly causing plug fouling poping in the carb a lot of gas out the exhaust. Thanks Harry

Jazzmin, I would say either a Qjet, or a Holley of approx 700-750 tops. Most folks here recommend a vaccum secondary Holley, although I personally have had much better luck with double pumpers.
I'll buy your 850 if you want to wheel it. ( I also have a 750 double if you'd prefer to swap. rebuilt runs mint. )
I would run a Q if it's a stock 396.

HI Jazzmin, you didn`t mention which 396 engine you had 325, 350, 375 HP. But if you have the original carb, why don`t you just have it rebuilt and use it. If it is 375HP motor, they came with a holley 780 single pump, duel feed, and vac secondaries.
