Hey guys,

A couple of posts back, I posted that I was looking to swap out my Mickey Thompson Sportsman tires for something a little more street friendly. The problem has become that I love the look of my large M/T tires (29X12.50X15) but I absolutely hate the ride. They ride rough, move around alot, and hard to heat up. I'm looking for a Cooper Cobra type tire or a BF Goodrich Radial T/A type tire with a 28-29.5 inch diameter, a 10-12 inch tire width,... that fits on a 15 inch rim and won't cost $350 a tire like Hoosier. There has to be some company that makes that. I tried BF Goodrich's drag radial and decided that that's not the type of street performance I am looking for.

Also,... I'm tire retarted! How do I read these tire sizes? How do you break down the width and diameter out of (ex.) 285/70/R15 or 275/60/R15?
Thanks,
Dan

Here is a tire size calculator:

http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi

BFGoodrich Radial T/A
255/70/15 = 29.1" tall, 12" wide, tread 10.2"
275/60/15 = 28.0" tall, 11" wide, tread 11"
285/70/15 = 30.8" tall, 12" side, tread 11.5"

The first number is the section width in millimeters, the 2nd number is the % of the width for the side wall, the 3rd number is the rim size.
