Hey guys

this is the second time this has happened to me.

Im out cruising, car running fine, stop at a light, idling fine. go to give it gas, and the car wants to die.

i would think that this is a fuel problem. tank still a third full. A1000 pump, -10 line up to the rails, and then to a regulator. 1/2" steel line back to tank.

one thing that i find odd is that the laptop software (classic FAST) seemed to freeze up as well.

The car died on the side of the road and after sitting for a minute or so, i restarted it, fired up and restarted the software... everything was fine and cruised home without a hiccup

you thoughts? fuel? ignition? computer?

thanks guys

is the software on the laptop display only or can you adjust the EFI computer with it? If it's able to make changes to the EFI computer on the fly and it freezes up on the laptop it might cause a problem like this. Or the EFI computer itself may be having problems causing the laptop software to lock up.

I'd be asking the EFI vendor about this deal. Do they have a forum like this?

With an A1000 pump you can be sure it is not a fuel supply problem... unless you are sucking air in the tank

So does the problem occur when you just tip in the throttle?
Or is does it occur just as the car starts to move?

The latter could indicate a fuel supply problem and you did not tell us what your fuel tank pickup setup is like. The initial clutch take up can produce a significant acceleration, even if very momentary. This could cause significant fuel slosh.

You can validate this by filling the tank and seeing if the problem goes away.

On the laptop software freeze... is this before of after you restart the car? The starter motor can cause significant voltage drops and other electronic noise that has been known to cause all kinds of havoc in communications of computer systems.

Do you have the AE Fuel vs TPS rate on your setup? This is supposed to act similar to the carb's accelerator pump. Sounds like when you crack the throttle it needs a shot of fuel as the blades are opening.

Also might want to check the AE Fuel vs Coolant temp, wonder if as it warms up your enrichment table is too low. That chart should taper off as the temp increases.]

You have a Classic FAST though, not sure if you have all those parameters. And I always seem to have the XFI SW to crash.
