I need to vent. It runs fine, at least it did. I decided to do a serp swap. My engine is a vortec headed long block. I am using a Holley Stealth Ram manifold-throttle body off the front. The serp stuff is a mix: 95 truck PS and Alt bracket and units, 92 Camaro AC bracket (bypass pulley instead of AC) and tensinoer. No AIR pump. Anything bolted to anywhere other than the heads and block is now a custom fit since bolt holes are in new spots. 2 custom braces later, and some stress getting everything solidly mounted, I put the water neck on......no go. The original I knew wouldn't work since it points directly at the alternator. I got a 45 degree swivel unit. Too Tall. The Camaro one would work, but the manifold must have a different bolt pattern clocking, because that is nowhere near right. I order up a 90 degree swivel from Jegs. I will clear-with some "clearancing" since that's even a little tall. I cut off the forward pointing port under the throttle body-wasn't using it anyway. I also had to massage the IAC passage outer wall and a little on the neck to make it point forward at least. Now I get it all bolted in with my best guess for a hose, whicih is the second one already, that seems to be OK, though a little close to the serp belt. I will hvae to make a little support bar to keep it off, no biggie. Now the darn K&N air filter cone is fighting the hose and neck for the same space. A little persuasion and they're both happy now. Add a couple zip ties to keep the hose off the belt and fill with fluids.

Did I forget to mention that this thing needs to drive 50 miles north tomorrow for our club picnic and calendar photoshoot?

I got it to that point last night, found 2 more hoses that might work this morning, and after work I will start it up and hope to hell it has no more issues.

So you titled the post "I'm so not happy with my EFI right now" for everybody to see? You don't have an EFI problem, you have a mismatch brackets parts problem you pointed out yourself.

Just sayin'.

Figuring out the junk is half the fun...unless you need to be somewhere. Try not to get too frustrated. I'm sure it'll all work out.

I used a thermostat housing from an old six cyl Chev pickup
Upper hose from a (I think) 79 Pontiac Lemans.

(Yep---small block 95ish pick-up brackets on a 454)

I will have to do some double checking on the hose part#-----have it somewhere.
This hose just barely touches the alt. but with a support can be held off.
Two different hoses for that Lemans (v8), get the longer one and trim it on the radiator side.

(my 59 has a BeCool)

I'm sorry, but did I miss something. I just have to vent. This thread has as much to do with EFI as it does rotary engines. One would think that the OP with over 5000 posts would have an clue about a proper heading for a new thread. Threads mistitled like this one, will have this forum reading like an Edsel joke at a Ford convention. JMHO.

Thanks Steve and Bryan.

Otherwise, Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me.

My EFI where my frustration lied. If it were carbureted, I could use several different water neck and hose combinations to avoid the belt since it's so open above the manifold. The throttle body on mine is in the way of the water neck because of the manifold design, and I couldn't route the hose behind the alternator because of the injectors and rails and tall valve covers.

I figured guys who have adapted EFI systems to thier cars without just going out and buying a kit would maybe understand a little since everything has to be figured out as you go.

Problem has been solved since. I found a hose at at NAPA http://napaprolink.com/Detail.aspx?R=NBH8349_0117339410 that routes across rad, around belt and then loops into the water neck almost perfectly.

I'll update my sig pic soon

what hose brand and part number is this, please?

I need one that jogs across like than and then in.. as opposed to what I currently have (see sig pic).

Now I understand. Sometimes Hotrodding is like trying to put 10 pounds of manure in a 5 pound bag.

Even buying a kit dosen't mean it will work... I'm so damn frustrated with my EFI I gave up and stopped wrenching on it last Feb. Kept burning up the distributor modules @ $90 a pop.... on the third one now and not in a rush to let the smoke out of it. I let the smoke out of the FAST XFI by uplugging the IAC with the key on, can you say poor design?

Hey Jason,

Indeed that was me.. I was chasing various little gremlins that had me pulling my hair out. So.... needless to say, I took some time off to get my head straight, 6 months later I'm getting around to it again.

IAC on my FAST fried, Dist module died, various other electrical issues at the same time. I said F$*K it and walked away for a long time. I wish I had just put a carb on it and called it done. It would have been fired up in a day, and I'd have an extra 4k in my pocket.
