I don't know if anyone else has posted about this in the past but I thought I'd share this experience.

I found out that the Excalibur brand lug nuts and washers you can buy from at least one of the big mail order houses are very poor quality in comparison to McGard brand. They start to crumble or gall the first time you tighten them. I also noticed that the Excalibur washers dug into my Weld Drag Lites and left an imprint about a 1/16" deep in the surface. graemlins/angry.gif In order to get rid of this imprint that area of the wheels would have to be sanded down and re-polished. In contrast, the McGard washers are a quality, hardened, stainless steel that only barely burnish the surface of the wheel around the lug hole when tightened.

MORAL OF THE STORY? BUY NAME BRAND, QUALITY LUG NUTS AND WASHERS!

I thought this tip might save someone else the unnecessary grief.

found this out the hard way...I bought rims a month ago and the off brand lug nuts were trash. I had 12 that completely stripped when torqued down.Needless to say,I learned my lesson tongue.gif
