: Air Cond. in a 67 Chevelle

I am having trouble finding a 67 with air. On my 70, since the vents were the same either way, I had the stock air from a
Malibu 4 door put into my SS.

Can I do the same if I buy a 67 SS w/o air? I found a great numbers matching, 350 HP car but It has no air. I called Vintage
air but the controls look "mouse". Can I convert the car to stock air or are the vents and dash different?

All suggestions gratefully appreciated.

Hi Chuck. firewall, complete dash, and assorted pieces need to be changed or modified. This includes simple things like the kick panel vents as well. It's not impossible, but I'd sure think twice. I was doing it to my SS396 ragtop 4 speed and that's when I found the SS I have now, so I never continued with the conversion. The heater box and passenger vent system are different. You really need a complete donor car to do a nice job. The A/C heater controls are expensive too as the controls are usually busted. A fan shroud is required and a clutch fan. The brackets are a tad hard to find for a big block, then there are all the little things like the inner fender mods, receiver/dryer and brackets, higher output alternator, etc. I think 67 is the worst year to try and convert.
