: Site problems
Ricks70ss Aug 18th, 10, 5:01 PM Ok. When it comes to using my computer. I'm not the brightest bulb in the bunch. So over two weeks ago. We had to reboot our pc. Start everything from scratch. YUK. My wife was ready to hang me. She got all most everything working again. Thank God. I'd be lost with out this damn thing. Anyways here my problem. At the very right corner of your screen There is the date & time. Now beofre we had to reboot. on my screen. There was also a little thing that said 100% When you put your mouse on that it would go from say 100% to 400%. So when i'm playing games or looking at some pictures it would increase the size of the page. Say playing Pool Jam. Increase it to 200% and it's easier for an old man to see & play. Does anyone know how I can get that back on my screen. Now I'm not talking about the magnifer on the control panel. I seem to remember it was maybe on a toolbar or something. PLEASE HELP an Old guy out. It's driving me crazy. Thanks for any help you can give me. one more thing. My daughter has the same thing on her pc. She doesn't know where it came from. Plus I think its only on desktops. Might be wrong. I clicked on hers to see if it would lead me some where . So I could go home and do it too mine. But NO luck NO :confused:leads.
Mike Aug 18th, 10, 5:11 PM The "little thing" that shows the 100% to 400% -
Put your mouse cursor over it and right click-
That should give you some info as to what it is.
You might post just what operating system and web browser your using -ie:Windows XP and Internet Explorer 8
Ricks70ss Aug 18th, 10, 6:31 PM Hey Mike. I can't run mouse cursor over it. Cause its not there now. After we rebooted it. It was gone. Were using windows XP. But do you think its a from a toolbar ? Or do you have any idea's ??
Mike Aug 18th, 10, 6:40 PM I'm running XP on this 'puter and don't have what your describing.
I was referring to your daughter's computer as you say she has the little thing" that shows the 100% to 400%.
Hover her mouse cursor over it and right click to see what it is.
UM,you have no mouse cursor??
By reboot do you mean reformat & reinstall?
Ricks70ss Aug 18th, 10, 7:11 PM yes. we had to reinstall everything. We had a virus that was really in there. Not sure how we got it. E mail jokes or what. That was our last thing to try. or we were going to buy a new hard drive then start all over. But the reinstall worked. I'm going over my daughters in a little while. What i did before was slide the arrow over it. To see if it would leave me some where. A site a desktop a toolbar Anything. But nothing comes up. Just driving me crazy trying to fig it out. But I'll let you know what I find there. Give it one more try while i'm there. Maybe my son in law can give me a clue. Cause I'm lost. Thanks Mike
Mike Aug 18th, 10, 7:16 PM but no mouse?
Ricks70ss Aug 18th, 10, 7:35 PM Not sure what you mean no mouse. Yes I have one. Thats what we use????
Mike Aug 18th, 10, 7:43 PM OK ,misunderstood what you meant by
I can't run mouse cursor over it. Cause its not there now

KWCCHEVELLES Aug 18th, 10, 8:17 PM In internet explorer browser, dowm in the right hand bottom corner is a tool that lets the browser zoom to 200 400 etc percent. is this what y0u are looking for?
Mike Aug 18th, 10, 8:27 PM Yeah ,sure is.
I'm on FF so I didn't see it until you mentioned it.
Rick ,don't know how long you've had and done the Microsoft Updates ,but you might just have reinstalled an older version of the Microsoft software.
Run Microsoft Update (http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us) and see what software updates it offer's you along with the security updates for your version.
It should offer IE8 and that should get your 'zoom' selector back.
Molly's 70 Aug 18th, 10, 8:32 PM I had to replace my hard drive & reinstall eveything about a year ago. I noticed that my 100-400 zoom was also gone. I went to microsoft updates & installed all the service packs. It took awhile. I just kept checking for updates til there were no more. At some point my zoom came back after one of those microsoft updates. Good luck
DONTWANT2 Aug 18th, 10, 9:03 PM I always had that with IE but now that you mention it i dont have mine anymore either. Im thinking it may have disappeared when i installed fire fox.
Mike Aug 18th, 10, 9:11 PM Well ,I've got FF v3.6.8 and IE8 v8.0.6001.18702 and the 'zoom' selector is right there in the right bottom corner of IE8.
Buck ,right click in the task bar to bring up properties and see if you have something turned off - like 'toolbars' - 'status bar'.
Or turn on 'command bar' up in the 'favorites bar'.
Ricks70ss Aug 19th, 10, 12:32 AM MIKE: You did it. wholey crap THANKS MAN. If I had your address I'd send you a case of BEER. Mike I can't Thank you enough. Rick
Mike Aug 19th, 10, 11:49 AM Group effort.
Ricks70ss Aug 19th, 10, 1:57 PM Well Thanks to all of you that helped me get back to my comfort zone. Seriously. THANK YOU. :) Rick
DONTWANT2 Aug 22nd, 10, 12:01 AM Well ,I've got FF v3.6.8 and IE8 v8.0.6001.18702 and the 'zoom' selector is right there in the right bottom corner of IE8.
Buck ,right click in the task bar to bring up properties and see if you have something turned off - like 'toolbars' - 'status bar'.
Or turn on 'command bar' up in the 'favorites bar'. I looked around a little but didn't see anything about a status bar. Not a big deal though. I can still read the screen.(at least for now)
Mike Aug 22nd, 10, 11:54 AM Try this.
In the blank space just below the address bar ,right click and see if there's a check mark next to 'status bar'.
