: Edelbrock Pro-flo 3500 new 355 ?

I just fired up my rebuilt 355 with Pro-Flo 3500 EFI.

It's not running very well at this point, hard to start, won't start when hot, don't want to idle, some popping through exhaust.

It could be that the hydraulic roller lifters need more adjustment. 8,500' altitude here.

About 30 minutes into break-in, motor got up to about 240* & I shut it off to cool down.

I'm just learning how the hand held "Calibration Module" works, seems confusing at this point.

I got the dizzy 10* advance Base Timing set correctly & I returned spark control to ECU.

I'm searching Edelbrock manuals for advice & don't find anything helpful.

You got the 2nd gen or first?Dont think it maters though I have the first gen pro flow on a 406.Was straight forward with setting timing and the baseline setup.Mine fired and ran perfect except for some fine tuning later. Is the system new or used?

Your global fuel should be set at 0.You might want to richen the cold start fuel to get you going and fine tune it later. You got all the paper work and manuals?I read them over till I felt I memorized everything before I got started.Dont remember everything now but still have all the manuals. You also check if eveything has full voltage because it can act strange when it gets low?I ran mine in open loop for a while also till it was tuned in.

I got it Idling better today. Adjusted lifters again, at very top this time, no pre-load.

They are all oiling now, 5 plungers were stuck at the bottom from sitting for years with valve spring pressure + molly. Hot oil + 55psi + Rislone broke them free.

Had to max out spark advance & fuel at Idle, & 1000RPM @ 9" & 18" vacuum to get ideling rich/lean light to run somewhat equal.

Also started a thread at Edelbrock.com Pro-Flo section about my Cal. Module showing 46* but my timing light shows 14* Not Right IMO

I'm looking at getting the Innovate Motorsports 3802 wideband O2 kit $249 at Summit. My Edelbrock supplied narrow band only shows Lean (red) or Rich (green) on the hand held Calibration Module. I want to have a table for WOT power AFR about 13:1, and a table for cruse economy AFR about 15.5:1

I just got off the phone with Jeff Robbins at Edelbrock Tech Support about my problems. He had some good info & tips.

He's sending me out the latest 3514 PROM chip (May 29, 2001)
