whats the widest tire i can stuff in my 69 chevelle that has a 15 x 8 mag rim in the back

Need backspacing iformation on your rim for anyone to answer your question. Backspacing equals the distance from the mounting surface to the inside edge of the wheel. Lay a straight edge across the wheel and measure to the flange. If you have a 4.5" backspacing dimension a P275/60R tire will fit in there with room to spare and no concerns with rubbing. If you want to go bigger like P295/50 tires I will let others comment cuz I don't have experience but I think others have got that size in there. Also, I don't like 50 series tires (lesser sidewall) on classic Chevelles so I wouldn't reccommend. In BFG T/A's the P275 size is the largest in a 60 series tire.
They are on my 70 in my signature and they look big enough...IMO
