Does anyone have pics of 295-50-15 tires on 15 x 10 wheels on a 66 or 67? I have a 67 SS that I want to use a custom 10" wheel with 295's but I dont want it to rub, and I dont want to raise the rear.Any help greatly appreciated.

pictures of 295/45 18's on my homepage. Car sits low and does rub when going up driveways and axle tilts at an angle, otherwise, does not rub. Outer fenders are stock (didn't roll lip). Mine are 10" wide with 6" b/s on a 68 12 bolt. Dont think you can go that far on b/s with a 15" rim, will hit shock mount.

I have 295/50/15s on my 66 Chevelle, but I have a 15X8-inch rim... No lip mods...

With 10-inch rims and enough BS to fit the 295, you might have problems/clearance issues with the lower shock mount on the rearend. It might hit the wheel... Mine is close enough that I cannot fit my finger between the wheel and the shock...

On my 8-inch wheels, I have 5 inches of back spacing, but 4.75" BS would probably be about perfect (on mine, with a stock 66 12-bolt rearend)...

So for the 10 inch rim, Backspacing of 5.75 should be pretty close, assuming you have a stock rim...

I had some pictures, but the latest (in my signature) have 14X6 steel rims... I'll see if I can find the others...

I have just purchased Torque Thrust II's, 15x10's with a 6 inch backspace for my 67. I am waiting for the tires (BFG 295x50x15) to arrive. I put the wheels on the car and they fit with about 1" of clearance on either side. They do not hit the shock mounts. I am hopefull that when I mount the tires everything will still clear. I will let you know how it turns out.

OK, I got to thinking about my 15x10 inch wheels and why they don't hit the shock mounts when ohter say the will. I just went out and put the wheels on the car (still waiting on tires)and then crawled under there and looked. They don't hit the mounts, but it's because the mounts have been moved! There are two mount holes on the bracket, one at the lower edge, and one a few inches higher. My shocks have been moved by the previous owner to the upper holes.

Now, I am not opposed to this if it is an OK thing to do, but I do not know if it is an OK thing to do. It seems to me that the shocks could bottom out mounted like this. On the other hand, I sure don't want to have to buy more wheels. Summit was very clear that these wheels are mine once I bought them as they are custom back space and special order.

Any opinions? Any ideas? Has anyone else seen this done?

Thanks for all of your help fellas. The rear that I have is a stock 67 12 Bolt and the wheels are 15 x 10 with 5" Backspace. The problem is that my car is apart the rear is being rebuilt and I am going to Carlisle Thursday and I would like to buy the tires there. I cant make any measurements. Does the 5" BS seem like it should work? Would the 295/50/15 or 275/60/15 work better?

I would not buy 15x10 wheels with only 5" backspacing for that car. 15x8 maybe but not 15x10's.
