Will 8" ralleys fit the rear of a '64 Malibu? What size tire would I need? I'm looking for a 15 inch, 27 inches tall and as wide as I can safely put on a 8 inch rim. Dave

With a 5" backspace and a trim on the fender lip you can get some 275/60/15's to fit. The 275 is 28" tall. the BF Goodrich drag radial is 275/60/15 but is a larger tire than a street tire and needs alittle more backspace to fit 5 1/4" backspace and will cause some rub without some hammer work to the inner fender area still gets some rub on driveways

If you use a a standard 15x8 Corvette ralley wheel then you can fit a 235-60-15 radial. When I had a 64 I had a pair of Ralley's made to center a 26-12.5-15 Sportsman pro, with 4.625" of backspace I had alittle over .375" on both sides of the tire.

On my chevelle I have 255/65-15 right now with classic rallys from American racing.. THey have 4.5" back spacing. I'm looking at going to a 255/60-15... And yes this is a tight fit, no tire store recomended it but I have about 1/4" clearance and only rubs when I pull in and out of the drive...but no visual marks on the tire itself..
