: 71 Full quarter install question

I'm in the process of replacing the sheet metal on my son's elky. I have full quarters to install, which looks "fairly" straight forward. My question is at the sail panel, there is a small "flange" which looks like it fits up to the drip rail. How do you attach the sail panel at the rail? Does the drip rail need to be removed? If so, how do you remove them?
Thanks for the help,
Craig

Anything that doesnt come with the new quarter needs to be reused.Drill out spot welds and later fill the holes with your welder to reatach them.A pic might get you a more precise responce unless sombody knows off hand what your talking about.

There should be a small "bend" it the quarter, that fits inside the drip rail (gutter). As Gary said, drill the spot welds out of the gutter and remove the old quarter steel. I gut that area off with a wiz wheel first, and ground the spot welds off from the bottom of the gutter. It's hard to remove the piece of quarter without tearing up the gutter, but it's doable. You may have to do some creative welding and grinding to make it nice, but a little plastic under the gutter, and seam sealer inside, and it will look good.

I did all this work, made it look like a million bucks, then I covered the whole area with the vinyl top:D

Gary,
Sorry if I was unclear. I should have posted a pic, I will next time.

Bill,
You pretty much answered my question. The "bend" goes into the gutter without removing the rail itself. I didn't initially see any welds in that area but I didn't look that close. I need to get the paint off the underside of the rail and check it out.

Thanks both of you!!
