Anyone have any stories of doing the swap from rear drum to disc on 70 chevelle or simalar? I would like to know if my stock proportioning valve will work.. or do i really need to change the valve and if so .. what valve do i buy? i found a great looking rear disc conversion kit on e- bay $400. that is with drilled and slotted rotors.. that includes the $ 50 shipping

Personally I would just keep the rear drum brakes (if you have no rear brakes installed then it might be worth it) The rear drums work well. (OEM)
The breaking ratio is approx. 70/30 front/rear. You probably will not notice a difference after installing them. I would Use that money else ware if it were my car.
Use the search function, There are many threads, lots of reading on this subject.

Is it a factory Disk / Drum car? I used the factory junction block on my '67 with the C4 13" front / LS1 Camaro rear disk setup, but it was drum/drum. I am planning on going to the Wilwood adjustable rear proportioning valve/distribution block combo to fine tune the rears once the car is on the road. I guess it all depends on what you have now as a setup and what you intend to use it for or what look you want.

I currently have a disc set up in front"original" and want to install a disc set up at the rears.. i really want to do this for the looks that 4 drilled and slotted disc will give the car.. then powder coat or ceramic paint the calipers to show behind the cragars.... i have used the search engine here but admit i thought most of the info i needed would be here on " brake conversions".. The valve seems to be the big question now.. Thanks Phil
We offer right stuff rear kits with the upgrades. You will need to change the master and prop to do it right and remove the resid valve to rear if equipped. Feel free to call or email me for details, we have done hundreds of these conversions!
