hi, i just bought a 65 chevelle convertible, i was just wondering what the proper trim should be on it. it has no hood spear and no side trim. its not an ss car just a 283 that came with 3 on the tree. is it supposed to have the hood & body trim as i see alot without it on. thanks

Post the information on the trim tag (on the firewall) and someone can provide the answer.

pictures too. sounds like a 300 sedan which are basic like that. 65 convertibles came with either the trim down the middle starting behind the front wheelwell to rear of vehicle or the wheelwell moldings with the trim continuing down the rocker panel. this is the option i will choose -when i get there. not too many diferences between coupe, convertible, 300 sedan, and 4 doors (including wagons) when it comes to trim. i would advise to pick what u like and make it happen, unless your going original. 64s varied lightly but pretty much same. get a hood spear and/or hood too.

Agreed. Do you want trim on it? If so get it, if not then don't.

The Malibu would have trim on the side, the Malibu SS does not. No convertibles in the 300 or 300 Deluxe series in the U.S. Removing the Malibu trim to look like a Malibu SS is common. When trim is hard to come by or is beyond repair, it's often easier to fill in the holes.
