: Will these wheels fit my '70...need advice

I am thinking about a set of 275/50D-15 Hoosier Quick Time Drag D.O.T. tires on a set of 15x10 Centerline Convo rims with a 5" back spacing. The Convo does not offer a 5.5" BS. Will this combo fit on my '70 Chevelle or should I buy different rims ? I bought a set of 29x13.5-15 Quick Time Pro tires recently that have a few runs on them, but have decided that I do not want that much tire in back and want more clearance than those tires would give me. Any advice on tires for street/strip and/or rims would be appreciated.
Thanks ;)

This is a question that has been asked many times.
Unfortunately, the answer is you still need a wheel with 5.5" backspace to run 10" rims.

Because of the short sidewall I say they will fit as long as your car sits at the stock ride height. You might experience a little rub with passengers or a bunch of stuff in the trunk on bumps.
Edit:
One thing you might do is go down to the local tireshop and have them mock up the combo before you buy it.

If you decide to run an 8" wide wheel,4.5" backspacing should work like a champ.

Thanks guys, I am now considering a BFG drag radial 275/50 15 on a 8" Weld Rod-lite with a 4.5" BS on the rear.
What do you think ? I need opinions. What size combo should I use on the front ?
Thanks again for the help. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
