I am wondering if there is a place that will change the offset of my 15x10 rally wheels to make them a 5.5" backspace. They are 5" right now. Does anyone know a place that does this possibly in NY or anywhere, and around how much it would cost.

Gary,

Let me know how your 1972 SS wheels turn out after they are widened.
I have 15x8 Corvette style rally wheels on my 1972 Chevelle right now, and I have a set of the 5 spoke SS wheels in the garage. I really don't want to use 15x7 wheels all the way around. I would like to see if I could get the SS wheels widened to 15x10 for the back. I have looked at adding some backspacing to the back of the wheel but I can not get to 15x10 with the stock suspension/wheelwell. I was not sure if the center could be cut out because of the way the trim ring attaches. I am curious to see how your wheels will turn out. Send some pictures when you get them back.
Thanks, Scott

is it cheaper to go from a 3.5"bs to a 5.5" bs on a 15*10" wheel, than compared to getting new ones? i got these 15*10 cragars from my uncle and they dont have the bs i was looking for. what would the price on getting the wheels widen be about?

Scott I talked to Independent wheel today. What he does is cut out centers and welds them to new hoops. Giving you what ever back space you want. But his hoop supplier has gone outof business. He is franticly searching for a new supplier. He is supposed to call me tommorrow and let me know whats up :( I hope he finds one if he does not i have 4 1971-1972 chevelle SS wheels for sale. I need 15x8 for my drag radials. These are an extra set i bought i still have my OE ones of course!

You can call Wheel Works in NJ. They will widen your wheel by cutting it on a lathe and welding in a 1/2" band - then removing 1/2" of the other side. Tim Smith is the guy's name and he does nice work.

Wheel Works phone number is 609-499-2233

they are located in Florence, NJ 08518
