HI all has any one run a 275-50-15 on 15X7 safely? The tire rack says that 15X7.5! Is the smallest wheel width for that tire. I want to run 15x7s that are my stock wheel on my 1972 SS. Any feed back would be great, thanks again.

I have 275/50/15's on 15x7 rallys. I have about 14k miles or so on them. No problems or unusual wear.

Mild 68, I talf to The Tire Rack today they said it is dangerous. What brand of tire do you have and do you drive on the road/ highway. Glad to here it is possible,I was looking for someone to cusomize my OE 1972 SS wheel to 8 Inches. Does any one know if this is possible?

personally i would say spend the extra money and play it safe. I will be going with a 275/60/R15 on a 15/9......just my .02

The tires I have are BFG radial T/A's. I have made several trips on the interstate. Hundreds of miles at a time, At least until I need fuel. :D
I don't understand how Tire Rack states the minimum rim is 7.5" and 7" is dangerous. Dangerous as in unsafe or what?
I think the rule of thumb is the tread shouldn't be more then 2" wider then the rim. According to Tire Rack the tread of a 275/50 is 8.9".

BFG, on their website (BFGoodrichtires.com), list the rim width range from 7.5 inch to 10 inch (?) for the 275/50-15...

yeah..... they recommend 7.5 - 10" rims everywhere i've looked for those size tires. Also a 275/50 (or60)R15 is actually almost 11" not 8.9". A 225/60/R15 is about 8.8". just thought i'd mention that.

Do it right
Let Stockton wheel (http://www.stocktonwheel.com/) widen them

If Tire Rack and BFG advise a 7.5" or larger width rim, I think I would take that advice graemlins/thumbsup.gif
